Who We Are
The Falmouth Artists Guild began almost 50 years ago when a small group of Falmouth painters got together and began informal art classes. They soon realized that working in a group improved their love of art and their artistic skills. Today, the Guild is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization with approximately 300 members and a full roster of classes, workshops, exhibits, and art sales offered on a year-round basis.
The Guild’s main purpose is to provide a place to create art and improve artistic skills. Artists of all ages, levels and media are welcome. The Guild also provides another important opportunity—fellowship. Says a longtime member: "The Guild changed my life. It has developed me artistically very much, and I’ve made countless new friends. I wouldn’t give it up for anything."
Art classes build confidence, creativity, and enable people (children and adults) to take risks in a safe setting. Arts classes serve a social and spiritual need, perhaps especially for retirees.
The Guild also collaborates with other community groups on joint artistic events. We are, and in our new home we will continue to be, within walking distance from downtown Falmouth. We are a keystone in promoting Falmouth’s cultural identity and offerings.
We have:
- Classes that are tourist friendly—held at convenient times with materials provided, for all levels, and for both adults and kids.
- Members giving free demonstrations to retirements communities
- Members who have been strong supporters of Falmouth Hospital’s annual fund raiser by donating many artworks over the years.
- Art Shows that are always open to the public seven days per week.
