Enjoy painting outdoors at the height of the summer using the methods and materials of the French Impressionist master. Beginning and intermediate students will use Monet's painting tools and palette to explore aspects of his brushwork and other painting techniques. Monet's approach to landscape, and his preoccupation with light, atmosphere and color will be introduced in a lecture-demonstration after which students will warm-up with a classic exercise in copying, before venturing out to paint a local scene "en plein air". In the event of rain, we will work in the studio from photographic sources.
